'Ancient Murrumbidgee Gum' - Pastel 60cm x 40cm or 24" x 16". A recently finished work on Canson 'Touch' paper (Twilight). I used Sennelier, Unison and Great American pastels. I painted this tree late last year too, but this is from a slightly different angle.
I live in Victoria, Australia. I have never undertaken any formal art training, but I have enjoyed dabbling and daubing since early childhood. I took up painting fairly seriously in 1985 and dared to start entering my work in shows! I am now totally hooked and if I don’t do something ‘arty’ at least a couple of days a week I get snappy! My work is influenced by a love of the environment and country life. I am attracted to subjects in the first instance by the way light interacts with the surroundings. My subjects are varied ranging from animals, landscapes, figurative, portraiture, life drawing and still life. I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable. I have tried all mediums and pastel has emerged as my favourite....
