Artist's Description
Con Conning was the first member of the Seymour & District Art Society to be made a Life Member. Originally from New Zealand, Con is a superlative artist painting mainly in watercolour. He is a much loved and valued member of the Art Society and the community in general.
I painted this portrait as a tribute to Con for the Art Society 21st Birthday celebrations held last November. It is currently on display at the Old Courthouse Gallery, Seymour, in an exhibition called About Face and when that finishes I will make a gift of this painting to Con and his family.
(Con passed away on 19th April 2011)
About Lynda Robinson
I live in Victoria, Australia. I have never undertaken any formal art training, but I have enjoyed dabbling and daubing since early childhood. I took up painting fairly seriously in 1985 and dared to start entering my work in shows! I am now totally hooked and if I don’t do something ‘arty’ at least a couple of days a week I get snappy! My work is influenced by a love of the environment and country life. I am attracted to subjects in the first instance by the way light interacts with the surroundings. My subjects are varied ranging from animals, landscapes, figurative, portraiture, life drawing and still life. I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable. I have tried all mediums and pastel has emerged as my favourite....

I had a hard time choosing a favorite. All your work is beautiful and well executed. I love the reflected light on this painting.
