Artist's Description
This is Miss Isobel Robinson (no relation), who was a local �legend�, a life member of The Seymour Agricultural & Pastoral Society and Seymour & District Art Society, and no doubt several other groups in the Seymour area! She was a much loved local �elder� and this painting was one of the many I have done over the years of Ag. Society members for display at the Seymour Agricultural Show. Isobel was also known for her incredible spinning and weaving abilities, and the jacket she is wearing in the painting is one of her own creations. She passed away soon after I painted this portrait. The painting was purchased as part of the Seymour Art Society Permanent Collection, and now hangs in The Old Courthouse Gallery, Seymour.
About Lynda Robinson
I live in Victoria, Australia. I have never undertaken any formal art training, but I have enjoyed dabbling and daubing since early childhood. I took up painting fairly seriously in 1985 and dared to start entering my work in shows! I am now totally hooked and if I don’t do something ‘arty’ at least a couple of days a week I get snappy! My work is influenced by a love of the environment and country life. I am attracted to subjects in the first instance by the way light interacts with the surroundings. My subjects are varied ranging from animals, landscapes, figurative, portraiture, life drawing and still life. I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable. I have tried all mediums and pastel has emerged as my favourite....
