Pastel on Canson Mi-Teinte 'Tex' paper - 75cm x 55cmm approx.
I painted this soon after the 'Black Sunday' bush fires in Victoria, Australia. It was purchased by a lady who had saved her life by sheltering in her dam while she watched her home burn. She bought this for her new home, as a reminder that the bush does regenerate after such tragedy. As an artist I found this very humbling.
About Lynda Robinson
I live in Victoria, Australia. I have never undertaken any formal art training, but I have enjoyed dabbling and daubing since early childhood. I took up painting fairly seriously in 1985 and dared to start entering my work in shows! I am now totally hooked and if I don’t do something ‘arty’ at least a couple of days a week I get snappy! My work is influenced by a love of the environment and country life. I am attracted to subjects in the first instance by the way light interacts with the surroundings. My subjects are varied ranging from animals, landscapes, figurative, portraiture, life drawing and still life. I find the challenge of painting water particularly enjoyable. I have tried all mediums and pastel has emerged as my favourite....
